Biography

Nick LeBeat is a multimedia artist and enthusiastic activist in the area of sustainability, often considered ‘underground’ in his approach. One of his main activities includes preserving empty historical buildings from destruction, theft and neglect, renovating and reinventing them as studios for artists. He has also been involved in a wide range of other projects in the Netherlands, the Balkans, Scandinavia, New Zealand, Australia, Jamaica and more, DJ-ing and organising events under names such as jamaican-jukebox, nicklebeat, lesur, pinipini and DJ-FACEBOOK.

He runs the Global Cultural Embassy (GCE, also known as studio LeBeatDJ). He founded GCE in 1998 and finds that the formation of new activist groups, which he has long been involved with, can be the basis of sustainability in our culture as humans of the future.
