Biography

Ryan Millar is a writer, communications trainer and improviser/comedian with more than 15 years experience. He regularly performs solo improv in his shows Marbles and The Pitch, and with improvised hip-hop group Milly Can Rap.

He curates and hosts improv and storytelling nights in Amsterdam at Boom Chicago and Mezrab. He also uses improvisation and storytelling as tools to help businesses and professionals improve their presentation skills, boost creativity, strengthen communications and even increase productivity. Recent clients include Astellas Pharmaceuticals, DG MARKT of the European Commission, Toastmasters Amsterdam, Liberty Global and more.

His professional writing experience includes copywriting, feature journalism, web content development and management, scriptwriting and social media strategy and implementation. He has recently done cross-platform copywriting and editing for clients including Transavia, ING, Shell, Philips, Renault and more.

He is also an award-winning playwright, and is currently turning the first five years of his blog ‘Roads to Rome’ into a book.

Ryan holds an MA in Professional Writing from London Metropolitan University, a BA in Communications and a Certificate in Sustainable Community Development from Simon Fraser, a Certificate in The Future of Storytelling from University of Potsdam, and a Certificate in Acting for Stage and Screen from Gastown Actor’s Studio.
