Biography

Joanna is a lawyer from Mauritius specialised in international criminal law. She received the Huygens Scholarship in 2010 for an LLM in International Human Rights Law and Criminal Justice which she completed cum laude at Utrecht University.

She worked at the Office of the Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court for four years where she worked on various conflict situations around the world. She was thereafter a fellow at the Carr Centre for Human Rights Policing, Harvard Kennedy School and is currently self-employed as a consultant in International Criminal Law advising victims, NGOs and governments on strategies to stop the commission of crimes against humanity, war crimes and genocide, obtain reparations and end impunity.

Joanna enjoys the dynamic knowledge sharing opportunities that HUTAC offers through the diversity of expertise and origins of its alumni and is looking forward to contributing to the expansion of HUTAC as the Secretary of the 2015-2016 Board.
