Biography
Raul is originally from Colombia but has become a Dutch citizen. He has a broad experience in international environments. Before finishing his high school, he went to Russia for an AFS Intercultural Program. Afterwards, he moved back to Colombia and completed his Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics. In 2005 he came to the Netherlands to pursue a Master’s degree in Logic at the University of Amsterdam and he received the Huygens scholarship in 2006 to complete the programme.
From 2007-2011 he completed a PhD in Theoretical Computer Science at the University of Amsterdam. He then moved into the industry to bridge his theoretical knowledge and practice. He first worked in the Financial Market as an IT Consultant for Capgemini. Nowadays, he works in Digital Marketing as e-Commerce Consultant at SDL.
In his free time Raul loves to design and build furniture, go long distance ice skating (he completed the ‘Alternative Elfstedentocht’ twice), in-line skating and rock climbing.
Raul is particularly interested in how technology can help organisations to improve their activities. As part of the 2015-2016 HUTAC Board, he would like to use his experience to help optimise the digital foot print of the association and align it with the needs of its members.
